Parker Hannifin hose whip restraint system improves operator safety

Parker Hannifin's Hose Whip Restraint system, released by the Hose Products Division, provides a safety measure for operators working around high-pressure hydraulic hose.

According to the company, in the event of an assembly failure the restraint can prevent harm to machine operators and/or damage to equipment which might otherwise occur due to the ‘whip’ action of a free pressurized hose.

The restraint is said to limit the whip or travel of the pressurized hose after it breaks free from its hose fitting, via a strong steel cord which keeps the hose fastened to the fitting after breakage has occurred.

The company says its Hose Whip Restraint is not designed to replace the proper hose crimping procedures outlined in its Parker Hose Products Division Catalog 4400.
