MINCOM has launched a new product called Mobile Inspections Manager which will improve safety and productivity in the mining industry by enabling on-site inspections.
The software company says that the Mobile Inspections Manager can reduce up to two-thirds of maintenance costs as well as decrease the incidence of injury for asset-intensive businesses.
Mincom’s Chief Strategy Officer Jennifer Tejada says that the ability to inspect a physical asset using the mobile device allows field workers to operate efficiently.
Tejada claims that through pro-active asset inspection, companies can identify any risks up front, enable any real time corrective action to be executed and ultimately avoid catastrophic failure or downtime that can cause dramatic negative business impact.
The Mobile Inspection Manager automates the inspection and data capture process, eliminating double-handling and paperwork. It also maximises the effectiveness of the inspection process, and prevents down-time.
Tejada says that if you take a mine for example, of the 1,000 workers there, 600 may be responsible for maintenance. Having access to real-time data in the field with an employee base of this scale helps reduce down-time, increase productivity and improve safety while lowering overall capital expenses and operating costs.
The program can be implemented out-of-the-box, or can be configured to support an organisation’s existing or re-engineered business practices.
Mincom global headquarters are located in Brisbane. It supports a diverse range of customers including mining company Xstrata.
