ACCORDING to Lockout Services, proper lockout procedures should be employed to protect workers in potentially hazardous environments.
The company says the procedures can help prevent access to danger areas as well as accidents caused by inadvertent or unauthorised operation of machinery and equipment.
"Management of lockout tags and associated systems can be frustrating for both employers and staff," Lockout Services' Paul Taylor said.
"Workers often report difficulty in identification and location of tag owners on shift changes or where authorised access by others is required.
"Delays relating to lock and tag kits can compound over a period and become a significant cost to the business."
Taylor said the company has released its Lockout system, which enables 24-hour response to orders for lockout kits that include the operator’s photograph and phone number on all locks, tags and kit bags.
"Having complete contact details on all components mean lock owners can be found quickly," he said.
"The integrated photo ID tag speeds the process.
"Kits can be ordered on the internet and delivered the next day and we also have an iPhone application."
The Lockout system can be supplied either as a full kit with locks, retractor clip, heavy duty tags, stainless steel hasp and a rugged belt bag, or tags and bags supplied separately.
