CAPITAL Safety has announced the launch of i-Safe 2.0 for managing mine safety programs.
i-Safe 2.0 is said to be a significant upgrade of its predecessor i-Safe. In 2007, i-Safe intelligent safety system became the first radio frequency identification (RFID) system dedicated to fall protection equipment tracking.
Capital Safety says i-Safe 2.0 builds on the previous model which consists of RFID tags, a mobile reader and a web portal.
RFID tags are standard on most new DBI-SALA fall protection equipment. Retrofit tags are available to outfit existing equipment lines, including fall protection equipment from any manufacturer, as well as other equipment such as ladders, fire extinguishers, power tools and more. The mobile reader scans the tags to record inspections, make job assignments or manage inventory in the field. Data can then be uploaded to the interactive web portal.
i-Safe 2.0 offers additional features and options not available on the previous version, more intuitive functions and an added layer of security, making operation of the system even more user-friendly, and further reducing the amount of time spent tracking inventory and logging inspections.
John Fuke, global i-Safe manager says the company has made a multitude of improvements, from appearance to report writing, designed to save the safety director's valuable time. He says the firm’s goal is to become indispensable to any company tracking and inspecting safety equipment. Fuke says with i-Safe 2.0, it has made a significant leap towards achieving that goal.
Compared to paper-based systems, i-Safe is said to reduce time spent managing inventory by more than 30%.
