RIX Shaft Lining will showcase its new technology for applying shotcrete in mining shafts at the Goldfields Mining Expo (GME) from 28 October in Kalgoorlie.

Shotcrete is a method of applying mortar or concrete to mining shafts to increase the safety of the mine site.

The new applicator features remote computer-controlled operation and has a camera display for shaft inspection.

The model functions in inclined and misaligned shafts with diameters from 1.8m to 8m.

According to the company, the applicator is safer and more reliable than previous models. It also reports air, material and water usage and can be retrieved economically from shafts.
