Safety inspectors investigate coal mine fire

SAFETY inspectors will visit a Western Australian coal mine after a fire an on-site fire landed a worker in hospital.

The blaze broke out at Griffin Coal’s Ewington mine, approximately 5km east of Collie, on 23 October 2008.

Three workers were moved from the area, and one man was flown to Royal Perth hospital suffering serious burns.

The worker is in a stable condition and an investigation is currently underway.
