THE HEADS of Workplace Safety Authorities (HWSA) met in Perth in early June 2009 to discuss the progress of a range of initiatives to further occupational health and safety management across Australian and New Zealand workplaces.

HWSA discussed the priorities for the coming two years and noted that there will be opportunity for work to be done on the administration of regulatory functions to support the implementation of the national OHS legislation.

Examples of this work include inspector notices, internal review process, training, information sharing and compliance and enforcement processes.

HSWA recognised the substantial commitment by the jurisdictions to the development of the national OHS act and regulations.
