SOUTH Australia has welcomed Safe Work 2008, which will expand right across the state for four weeks to raise workplace safety awareness.

The annual event brings a range of workshops and presentations discussing mining hazards and common safety issues to regional and metropolitan districts.

Safe Work SA chief advisor, Carl Asker, says the workshops are aimed at preventing incidents of harm at work, and are free to attend.

“Prevention is always better than cure, and the key to prevention is information,” he says.

The presentations will also address changes to licensing agreements and deliver findings from coronial inquiries related to contractor and mine operations.
