SOUTH Australian mines with more than 30 employees are now required to have trained rehabilitation and return-to-work coordinators as part of recent legislation changes.

According to WorkCoverSA, the directors are being enforced to focus on rehabilitation and coordinate return-to-work efforts.

The initiative aims to promote early intervention and reduce lost time and costs when dealing with return-to-work claims.

Employers have until 30 June 2009 to complete the required training and notify WorkCover. Employers can make use of a number of registered training providers approved by WorkCover SA.
