THE QUEENSLAND government has announced a $100m plan to improve facilities in the state’s booming mining towns.

The agreement aims to improve the social impact assessment of new resource developments, and attract and retain employees in the regions.

Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh, says the program will support the economic and social infrastructure in key mining areas.

Projects will include upgraded roads, schools and health facilities, and boost assistance programs already sponsored by mining companies.
