PIKE River Coal has implemented a series of initiatives to ensure the safety of its workers.
The miner says that one of these initiatives has been the considerable investment into operational and safety training.
The company says another recent initiative is the installation of transponders into the miners' helmet lamps to provide instant information on their location if any difficulties were to arise.
Pike River Coal’ says that the mining industry can be a dangerous industry and this is why stringent safety practises must be followed to protect its valued employees.
