A LEADING gas detection manufacturer has extended agreements to globally distribute its mini methane leak detector.

Coalbed gas, which mainly consists of methane, is a major hazard affecting safety and productivity in underground coal mines.

Gas emissions can result in outbursts and explosions when ignited by open lights or by improper use of machinery.

The company’s mini laser methane detector senses parts-per-million levels of methane gas from distances of up to 100m. The handheld device weighs 600g and measures 70 by 179 by 42mm. It includes automatic ranging, colour LCD and an extended temperature range.

The light weight and portability of recent models increases the efficiency of gas detection in mining operations.
