WORKSAFE WA is urging mine workers to keep safe when returning to work after the festive season.

The Western state reported 11 work-related fatalities throughout 2008, in addition to thousands of workplace injuries and illnesses.

Worksafe WA says employers and employees should guard against complacency and pay attention to the task at hand.

The safety body is urging workers to pay particular attention to fatigue management, working at heights, machine guarding, hazardous substances and slips and falls.
