MINERS, their families and friends attended the second annual Miners Memorial Day in Brisbane's Roma Street Parkland on 19 September 2009.

The event commemorated the lives of more than 1450 miners who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the development of the mining industry.

The event was open to the public and attended by Minister for Education and Training, Geoff Wilson (former Mines and Energy Minister who attended the first Miners Memorial Day in 2008) and Member for Bundamba Jo-Ann Miller, representing the Queensland Minister for Natural Resources Mines and Energy Stephen Robertson.
