MINEARC has announced that is has struck a deal with the Chinese Government in its attempt to tackle its mining safety image.
The Western Australian company says that it expects that it will begin supplying mines by late-2009. The company says it is looking to China as a major growth market.
MineArc is behind the refuge chamber that saved miner Jason Rose after he became trapped at BHP Billiton’s underground Leinster mine Goldfields. Rose was rescued after spending 16 hours in one of MineArc’s chambers.
The mining safety equipment supplier provides about 80% of refuge chambers used in Australian mines and exports to 25 countries. In Australia alone, the company recorded about $10 million in sales for 2007-08.
