LIEBHERR has developed two self-propelled maintenance tools that are said to promote safety and efficiency when maintaining mining equipment.

According to the company, the Wheel Handler and SuperJack III are both easily operated by one person to reduce mobile equipment downtime and increase fleet availability.

The Super Jack III may be used on a range of heavy mining equipment including trucks, scrapers, tractors, loaders and drills. It comprises a straight-line vertical lift that is mechanically lockable into position to address safety issues.

The diesel-powered unit is equipped with a ride-on platform and is said to lift up to 90t easier, safer and more efficiently than similar maintenance tools.

The self-propelled Wheel Handler has been specifically designed to handle final drives for large diesel electric haul trucks. According to the company, it can also handle a variety of heavy components weighing up to 19,960kg.

The handler allows for dismounting, transporting and remounting of wheel motors and is easily operated from a ride-on platform.

According to the manufacturer, the maintenance tools increase equipment availability and safely reduce the time required for equipment repairs.
