A NEW industry safety and health levy is set to strengthen safety services in Queensland’s mining industry. The $26m levy will boost services already provided by the Mines Inspectorate.

Funding will allow for new staff specialising in health and safety investigation and scientific research.

More unannounced audits will also be carried out as a result of the endowment.
