Laing O'Rourke on trial over safety

LAING O'Rourke is on trial accused of failing to take appropriate safety measures while working on a railway track from Cloudbreak mine to Port Hedland.

The construction company was contacted the work by Pilbara Infrastructure.

The charges were brought by safety watchdog WorkSafe after Cyclone George.

The group is on trial in the Perth Magistrates Court for failing to provide effective procedures in the event of a cyclone.

The trial, which is set down for three weeks, continues
