A NATIONAL safety awareness campaign will take place on 24 October 2008 to promote workplace safety and reduce preventable workplace injuries.

Injury Free Day is organised by the KIDS Foundation, and supported by the Deputy Prime Minister and John Holland.

The day coincides with Safe Work Australia Week, and links companies, schools and the general community across Australia in a day of action focusing on injury prevention.

Organisers say by enhancing workplace safety, other social environments will also become safer.

KIDS Foundation is providing workplaces with safety kits designed to support safety programs already in place at mine sites.
