Environment Minister will not loose power in mine approval process

MINES and Petroleum Minister Norman Moore says the Western Australian Government has no plans to reduce the role or limit the powers of the Environment Minister in the mining approvals process.

The announcement follows the referral of a report in the Sunday Times report on page seven of the March 22 edition.

Moore says the document was not a draft or a final report of the Industry Working Group recently established to investigate Western Australia’s mining approvals system. It is simply a submission received by the working group and reflects the views of industry associations.
