Traditionally, many CQUniversity students at Mackay campus have had to travel to Rockhampton to finish their engineering degrees.

The organisation says this $300 million facility which will house a full engineering facility so students can stay in Mackay. It will also include a research centre where virtual mine training programs will be created.

This will allow students to train on virtual heavy machinery used in mining in a safe environment.
