P&H MinePro has been fined $260,000 over a workplace accident at the Bulga open-cut mine in the Hunter Valley.

The incident occurred when an elevated work platform being used by two men slammed into a giant electric shovel the pair were working on.

The firm pleaded guilty to two breaches of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The court found that found the person operating the platform did not hold the proper qualifications to operate it.
