A PROTEST at Felton attended by Senator Barnaby Joyce has attempted to rally support against Ambre Energy’s proposed open cut coal mine, petrochemical plant and power station.

The activists released 300 helium balloons that carried the slogan “No mines on the Darling Downs - our foodbowl” and which were tagged with the message “If this balloon reaches you, coal dust from a Felton mine would too.”

Protester Rob McCreath said the protest and its outcome would be crucial to the health of the environment and community of the Darling Downs region and to the whole country’s food supply.

McCreath claims that interest in the mining case is heating up and financial and in-kind support is rolling in.
