Charities to potentially gain $140,000 for BlueScope Steel safety initiative

BLUESCOPE Steel has announced an initiative to help improve safety at its blast furnace.

The company says it will donate cash to local charities for every day that work on relining the number five blast furnace remains injury-free.

The steel supplier and its on site contractors will donate a total of $1,000 for every injury-free day. The project is expected to take 140 days to complete.

The Guide Dogs NSW, Lifeline South Coast, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation will benefit from the scheme.
