THE MINISTER for Mines and Petroleum Norman Moore says BHP Billiton has presented safety measures to the Minister following a spate of accident at its mining operations.

The Minister says the miner has advised the State Government of a range of measures it will implement to address this alarming and unacceptable situation regarding worker safety issues.

Moore says the government will seriously consider these proposals and comment in the near future.

Moore claims the company has been very co-operative and clearly recognises the importance of the problem and the government’s expectations of them.
