A MINER is suing Downer EDI for injuries he sustained in a central Queensland mining accident in 2005.

Fifty-four year old John Osborne suffered multiple fractures, head injuries and memory loss after falling into a tunnel at Cracow Gold Mine in May 2005.

Osbourne is blaming the mine’s management for not lighting the path, barricading the unsafe area or informing him of potential danger zones.

Osbourne says he is now unemployable from the injuries he sustained has lodged a claim for more than $1.4m in compensation.

The claim seeks damages of $850,000 for the loss of future economic earnings, $220,000 for past economic loss, $90,000 for his pain and suffering and $90,000 for future medical costs.

Osborne hasn't worked since the incident.
