NSW government releases mining fatigue management plan

THE NSW Department of Primary Industries has released a guide to the development and implementation of a Fatigue Management Plan for the mining industry.

The new guide and chart aim to help the industry manage occupational health risks in the same systematic way they address safety risks.

It will also help mines and quarries to better understand their existing legislative obligations in managing occupational health risks. The guidance is flexible so individual sites can develop a fatigue management plan suited to their specific needs.

This guide is the result of extensive public consultation and demonstrates the commitment that union and employer stakeholders have to improving mine safety in NSW.

This tool is part of a suite of tools that the NSW Mine Safety Advisory Council, in conjunction with Industry & Investment NSW, is compiling for the mining and extractives industry to work toward achieving world-leading OHS.
