Mine maintenance worker falls to his death

SAFEWORK SA is investigating a mining industry fatality that occurred at a mine at Mount Compass.

The maintenance worker died after falling about three metres at the Unimin Australia mining operation 4 September 2009.

The man was working on a platform when he is believed to have fallen through an opening.

The death has sadly, once again thrown safety into the spotlight as the industry struggles to make reforms.
