PERSONALISED exercise programs can improve miners’ work by dramatically easing aches and pains, according to a recent study.

Future Moves Physiotherapist, Vanessa Fowles developed personalised exercise regimes for 54 miners as part of a program to improve the well-being of mining workers.

Downer EDI Mining embarked on the 'Move Better Feel Better' program to achieve a mix of humanitarian and business gains.

The programs reportedly eased aches and pains in 70% of workers over six months.

Participants reported decreased pain, increased strength, less fatigue, better enjoyment of leisure activities and better sleep.

Fowles will reveal how miners responded to the innovative exercise program during her address at the WA Safety Conference on 14 August 2008.
